Dear Friends of All God's Creatures, 2010 was a great year for AGC. We have found homes for 146 deserving pets. Hopefully, even more will be placed in 2011. Along with adopting, we have also rescued 138 animals this past year. We average caring for 80 - 90 animals at any given time. Certainly ‘our cup runneth over!’ We still see the cruelty and neglect all around us, but we also see those that are willing to give a loving home to the animals in need, even if they aren’t the most beautiful, are of questionable heritage, or aren’t perfectly behaved. This is what keeps us going and hoping for the day an animal rescue will not be needed, here or anywhere else. We are getting settled into our facility. We have made many improvements in the past 18 months to the building and property, including constructing our kennel building. Now our larger dogs can be housed indoors for the first time in AGC history!! We are so thrilled and grateful. As another means of supporting our rescues, we are offering boarding and grooming. The proceeds go to their care. We hope you all have a wonderful, safe and fur-filled year!! Dear Friends, All God's Creatures Pet Rescue and Adoption has been a lifelong project for me.
I have loved and cared for all animals since I was a child, from chipmunks and field mice
to horses. (My mother drew the line on opossums though!) I decided to establish the
organization because the need for an animal shelter in our rural area was too great to ignore. I have always strongly believed that we have been given the responsibility to
care for those who cannot care for themselves. Unknowingly, animals provide ultimate
loyalty and are capable of absolute and true unconditional love, an
ability which we as humans seem to lack. In turn, they have the right to receive
unconditional love and acceptance from us. The role pets play in our lives is so valuable
that we must care for and protect them to the best of our individual abilities. Whether our
role is to provide a good home to an abandoned pet or offer time and talent to a shelter,
all endeavors matter and make a difference! I feel that the purpose of my life is to
devote my time and abilities in helping these abandoned pets by providing a pet rescue
service and shelter seeking the final goal of placement with a loving family. Sincerely, Denise Holcomb |
