Pet Party Line is a column written by Beth Byrd and is featured weekly in The Citizen News, one of our local newspapers. "FUN PET FACTS or MYTHS!"Q: Do cats always land on their feet? A: NO! The idea that cats fall safely is wrong. Cats can quickly twist their bodies around when falling, but it doesn’t guarantee that they won’t get hurt. When they land, bones in their paws, legs, back or neck can easily be broken. So, always be careful with your kitty, especially when it is playing with younger children. Q: Why is my dog’s nose always wet? A: Your dog’s nose is wet so that odor molecules, which are carried in the air, will stick to its damp nose. This is how their sense of smell works. Dogs can detect odors a million times better than we can! Source: The Animal Mission of Columbia |
