"AGC Adoption Days/Are White Cats Deaf?"

Q: Could you please inform us of when AGC adoption days will be this year?

A: Event Calendar:

  • April 29th - 3rd Annual Paws in the Park, Johnston
  • June 17th - Peach Festival, Trenton
  • October 21- Heritage Festival, Edgefield
  • October 28- Harvest Festival, Ridge Spring

We will also have impromptu Saturday adoption days when the weather is nice and you can always adopt at any time by calling 275-1725.

Q: How can I keep my cat’s weight under control?

A: Some 16 million cat owners have more than one cat, which makes it hard to put one on a special diet. Use multi-cat formula food and set out mini-meals around the house to make him hike for his dinner. Spoil them with low-cal snacks and substitute a belly rub or grooming for a great zero-calorie reward. Cats are Olympic-level loungers and need a reason to move. Create fun activities (dangling a feather on a string, playing with Ping-pong balls and chasing laser lights) to get his little heart pumping. Also, contrary to popular myth, neutering does not make your cat fat. You should neuter your pet! WE control our pet’s food and we are the ones who need to change. When we overfeed them, we literally may be loving them to death.

Q: Is it true that all white cats are deaf?

A: No! Some white cats are deaf, and some aren’t. It depends on eye color. If a white cat has blue eyes, it is more likely to be deaf than a white cat with green or gold eyes. A deaf cat can be a great house pet, but of course shouldn’t be allowed outside because it can’t hear oncoming danger such as dogs, cars or mean people!
